I wanted to be my own boss so I could work anywhere in the world that had a wifi connection. I dreamed about sitting by a pool cocktail in hand inspiring the world from my laptop. I thought it would be so cool to have the freedom to be anywhere I wanted (or needed) to be at any time. All of that is super cool, but do you want to know what the best part is? Keep reading…
The best part about being my own boss (besides changing the lives of those I work with and stuff) is that I crafted by business so I’d have plenty of time and space to chill. Working from my couch in my jammies is just as exciting to me as rocking a bikini by the pool in a tropical location. Flowing with my natural energetic cycles means that I can chill when I need to and hustle when I feel it. Not filling up my schedule is something I’m constantly working on not doing because it’s so easy to do. It’s almost easier to fill it than to allow it the room to breathe. We live in a society that celebrates people who work themselves to death. By doing business differently is my way of changing this.
When I first starting working for myself I locked myself in my office from nine to five. I thought that I had to work a full eight hours with a thirty minute lunch break. After all that’s what you do when you have a job right?
No. No. No. No. No!!!
You don’t need to fill your days up from wakin’ up to fallin’ asleep. Work more efficiently so you have time left over to focus on self-care, to connect with your friends and family, to dive into your hobbies, and to chill on the couch watching programs. FYI I love sitting on the couch watching programs. Actually I’m sitting on my couch writing this blog post right now as Sex and the City reruns are playing on my TV.
What I’m trying to say is that even if your motivation for starting your very own business is that you want to sit on your couch and watch programs more, that is a valid reason.
Love you!
