If you’re obsessed with music like I am, you know how a show of epic proportions can improve your mood. John A. Logan who was a famous general dude during the Civil War said “Music’s the medicine of the mind.” This holds true in this day and age as there seems to be an article popping up with new research almost every day. Whether you’re into Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga or Phish, going to concerts will have a positive impact on your mind, body and soul. Maybe concert tickets will be covered under health insurance some day.
This Monday at 8pm, I’ll be hosting an ONLINE Dance Party and Q & A where we’ll dance like wild boars while improving our health by channeling all the feels we experience at live music shows. All you have to do is enter your email HERE to get access.
So why are concerts so good for you? Here’s a few of the reasons:
- They reduce your stress levels
- Going to concerts decreases the release of your stress hormones research that I found on the internet shows. While you’re chillin at a show it seems that your body is too with a decrease in blood pressure.

- You’ll find relief from pain
- When your senses are delighted at a concert, your brain releases endorphins that block pain. Listening to music that you love can increase your pain tolerance.

- You’ll feel like you’re a part of something big
- When you go to a show, you’re enjoying what you love with a lot of other people which will make you feel connected to them. In the Blue Zones (areas of the world where people live to be the oldest) one of the things they all have in common is community. Community is good for your outlook on life. All the things you had to do in order to be there with that community (like saving money for the tickets, booking travel, making sure you have child care etc) is so worth it.

- You’ll remember the feelings you forgot
- Listening to your favorite musician play a certain son can trigger memories that will transport you back to the times you heart those songs played. You’re given a chance to think about where you were then and where you are now. There are usually a lot of feelings associated with the song, giving you an opportunity to check in with yourself about how you’re doing with them now. It’s kinda therapeutic.

- You’ll get a good workout
- I trained for a half marathon by going on Phish’s summer tour. My longest run before the race was three miles. Between walking to and from the concert venues and dancing hard during the shows, I got into the best shape of my life and crossed the finish line with a smile on my face.
- Everything will feel like it’s all good
- Research continues to show that folks who go to shows on the reg have an overall greater sense of well-being than those who don’t. The findings I found (on the internet and from real-life experience) have shown that interacting with the music just makes you feel better than if you didn’t.
There you have it. I always new that going to shows was good for my mind, body and soul and it’ really cool that people are researching this and finding out the science that proves it.
Let’s pretend we’re at a show and dance together this Monday, January 28th at 8pm est. Set aside approximately thirty minutes to get down. All you need is a internet connection, a smile and to enter your email address HERE.
