Dear Taraleigh,
Maybe you have the magical answer. How do I cultivate the life that I wish to have? I feel like my life is in cement and I’m just stuck all around. In my life, in my apartment and in NJ and I can’t quite figure out how to get out. Help!
Stuck in Jerz
Dear Stuck in Jerz,
Nothing is keeping you stuck and nothing is responsible for your happiness, but you. It’s not your location’s fault. It’s not your apartment’s fault. It’s not someone else’s fault. Journal about why you are staying in a place that doesn’t feel in alignment with you. Take responsibility for your life and your happiness and stand up for yourself and make just one move this week in the direction you want to go. The following week make another move. Before you know it you will have taken the leap.
Don’t forget that your dream life is happening right now. And now. Be grateful for what you have and where you are in this very moment.
There isn’t a magical answer to your question, but the good news is there is something you can do right now to create movement. If you had a goal of losing 100 lbs I would never tell you to lose all the weight by tomorrow. Not only because it’s physically impossible, but it would be extremely overwhelming to even figure out what you should do to allow that to happen. It’s all about taking some baby steps followed by some leaps. To get started I recommend you physically move your body. Put on a song that you can’t help but move to and dance your ass off. Often times when we feel stuck in life we have to focus on creating movement.
The next thing is to pick one of your goals. Let’s pick the one where you find a new apartment. Write down everything that your ideal apartment must have and would be really cool if it had. Here are some examples.
“It must have a yard.”
“It must have three bedrooms.”
“It would be really cool if it had a doorman.”
“It would be really cool if it was located in Burlington, VT.
“It must be located in New England.”
Let yourself go there and go wild! Look at your list and feel what it would feel like to live in that apartment. Put your hand on your heart and ask yourself, “What is one thing I can do this week to get my butt in that amazing apartment?”
Whatever it is…do it!
You can do this for all of your goals. Take the first step. You can do it!
On a side note: I love New Jersey!!!
The awesome in me sees and bows to the awesome in you,

“Stuck” in Jersey ??
I’ve lived in NJ most of my life and it’s Home to me. 5 years ago, I was living in DC for 2 years, broke up with my GF and could have moved anywhere in the world. No Kids, No Mortgage or anything tying me down. Where did I move ?
…..BACK TO NJ !!!
NJ is amazing, pick on another state 🙂
