Each week I’m going to highlight one of my favorite things. This week it’s my beautiful mala made by one of my best friends Britt Nemeth.
After I raged it in paradise at Phish’s Mexico shows I flew directly into Britt’s arms in Denver, Colorado. Once I arrived at her house I saw a couple of the beautiful malas she had been making. All week I borrowed different ones until my final day there when I laid my eyes upon this one.
I fell in love with it right away without even knowing that she had made it with me in mind. When she makes her malas she said a mantra when she ties each knot between the beads. This one she used the word paradise. When I wear it I not only am transported back to Mexico where I’m reminded of memories like floating in the sea hand in hand with my husband while Phish played Wading in the Velvet Sea and splashing to Harry Hood, but I feel all the feels I felt in those moments too.
Britt’s malas are not only a beautiful piece of jewelry, but they are also a feeling. To say they are magic is an understatement.
