Tuesday was my 38th birthday! I survived another year which is no easy feat. I’m so proud of myself. On the evening of my birthday I invited some friends over. I asked everyone to write down a wish for themselves and a wish for the world. One of the women at the party said, “You better add a wish for you too!”
After everyone completed writing down what they wished for we headed outside. Mother nature was on our side. It had rained all day (aka leaking awesome from the sky) until it was time for the ceremony. The sun came out and the sky was all kinds of beautiful colors.
Before we burned our wishes to send up to the Universe, I asked each person to share a word that was true for them right now. Everyone laughed and one woman said, “Are you trying to retreat us?” (Meaning are you doing what you do with people at the retreats you host) Haha! I totally was.
After a champagne toast I tossed the wishes into the fire and watched them burn. It was beautiful. In that moment I thought about what a perfect evening it was.
I paused for a moment and thought about all the things that had to happen to allow me to be right there right then surrounded by those exact people and it’s pretty incredible. Not only did all of the choices I’ve ever made (good and bad) and everyone I’ve ever come in contact with made, but also my parent’s choices and their parent’s choices and so on and so on. The fact that you are here right now reading this blog is a miracle. The fact that as I write this I’m listening to Phish is amazing. Think of all the choices those four men had to make to be here.
This concept blows my mind and makes me feel really important. At the same time I remember that I’m just a sparkly speck flying through space on a ball of dirt, sand and glitter.
…and so it is.
In the comments section below share a wish for yourself, a wish for the world and a wish for me.
The awesome in me sees and bows to the awesome in you,
