It was a miraculous day. I received a personal email from Arianna Huffington saying that she wanted to feature my voice in the Huffington Post. How the heck did that happen? Here’s the all-access exclusive story straight from the unicorn’s mouth.
A little while ago my friend Danielle asked me if I wanted to go to NYC to the Thrive Conference. I didn’t know anything about it so I checked it out. I learned it was a conference supporting Arianna’s new book with the same title. Danielle shared that if I bought the book I would receive a free ticket to the event. I checked in with my heart and it said a whole hearted, “Hell yes!” I packed my bags and the next day Danielle and I took it to the streets.
I didn’t know why I felt like I had to be there, but I did. I posted to Facebook that I was going to attend the conference and was wondering if I was going to see any familiar faces there. A friend responded letting me know her friend works for the Huff Post and she connected me. Her friend hooked it up! She asked me if I would be willing to do an interview about my experience at the conference when I returned home on Monday. Again I checked in with my heart and it said another whole hearted, “Hell yes!”
At the conference I met so many wonderful people who all want to not only survive in this world, but are craving to thrive. At one point in the conference Arianna generously gave us her personal email address. My intuition said to me, “Write that sh*t down!!!!” So I did.
On Monday when I returned it was interview time. I had no idea what I was in for. It was a live studio show and I was being Skyped in. I thought it was going to be a bunch of attendees chatting it up about what they liked, but it was something much greater. The guests were me (the music industry’s life coach and author) and two of the rock star presenters. I didn’t realize this until about 2 minutes before showtime.
After I finished the interview Arianna tweeted it and mentioned my name. Woah!
I have had a goal of being a writer for the Huffington Post for a really long time. I decided I was going to allow this to come into my life. I sent Arianna the following email.
Subject: I’m going to rock the Huffington Post’s world
Body:
- When faced with any decision ask your heart what it wants. It’s always right… 100% of the time.
- Even if it’s scary, still listen to your heart.
- Be open to the magic and miracles that are happening all around your all the time. Like now. And Now.
- Ask for what you want. If you don’t ask you start with a no. If you do ask, there’s the possibility of yes!
- Allow yourself to be the truest expression of your authentic self. If people don’t like you it’s not personal. If they do like you then they like the real you.
What’s something you’ve wanted for a really long time? How can you open yourself up to allow it to happen?
If I’m a featured columnist in the Huffington Post anything is possible. I’m not any more special than anyone else. My hope is that this blog inspires you to feel the fear and do it anyway, to listen to your heart and to allow all of your dreams to come true.
This is a great post. Inspiring.
